Tonight I was talking to my friend Lauren who is a labor and delivery nurse. She was telling me some of the situations she has faced while working in labor and delivery, as she said it in the field she works in "when it is good it is good and when it is bad it is bad"...
She told me two stories... one of a mother who did not find out her babies sex and when he finally came out she screamed "HE IS HERE" So loud... her enthusiasm at seeing her precious baby brought tears of joy not only to her eyes but to the doctors and nurses eyes! What joy to help bring new life into the world!
She also told me a story of a women who was twenty two weeks pregnant and had developed an infection, her water broke and her labor could not be held of... her baby was ultimately born stillborn. Lauren said they cleaned this lifeless child up, swaddled her and laid her in her mothers arms as the room was filled with tears of sadness.
I am so blessed to be a mommy who got to bring her baby home from the hospital. I have a healthy happy little girl when many do not! My heart aches for these mothers who lose their children! I was reminded to cherish every moment with Av, every little smile, every little laugh, every little toot and every little tear because many mothers would love to have had these moments with their babies. So I encourage you other Mommy's to gather up your little blessings and give them a big kiss and PRAISE THE LORD for the opportunity to be their moms, I know I love on Av all the time but after hearing this story I wanted to get her out of the bed and love on her while she slept!
Our healthy little girl... three months old!
Her first day home
Right after Av was born...7 pounds 2 ounces!
